The USS Oscar Austin (DDG 79), an Arleigh-Burke class guided-missile destroyer, arrives at Naval Station Rota, Spain, on Oct. 15, 2024, marking its homeport shift from NAVSTA Norfolk, Va. Oscar Austin is the first of two additional destroyers to join the Forward Deployed Naval Force-Europe, enhancing the strategic capabilities of NAVSTA Rota as a key hub for U.S., NATO, and allied operations across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

The warehouse will primarily support 173rd Airborne Brigade contingency operations and reduces their time needed to rapidly deploy.
