Lt. Gen. Robert C. Fulford, U.S. Marine Corps

Deputy Commander

Lt. Gen. Robert C. Fulford was commissioned in 1992 after graduation from the United States Naval Academy. 

A career infantry officer, his assignments in the Fleet Marine Force include Rifle Platoon Commander and Combined Anti-Armor Team Platoon Commander in Battalion Landing Team 1/4 including deployments with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) and 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable); Rifle Company Commander in Battalion Landing Team 2/8, deploying with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable); Operations Officer, 2/8, deploying with Task Force Tarawa / Amphibious Task Force-East in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 1; Commanding Officer, Battalion Landing Team 3/2 deploying twice with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit; Commanding Officer, Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force – Crisis Response – Africa deploying in support of U.S. Africa Command; and Commanding Officer 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, deploying in support of U.S. European Command and U.S. Central Command.

Other assignments include tactics instructor, staff platoon commander, and instructor at the Infantry Officer Course, The Basic School; Commanding Officer, Recruiting Station Baltimore, Maryland; Senior Aide de Camp to the 35th Commandant of the Marine Corps; Division Chief, Joint Staff, J5 Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate; and Director, Expeditionary Warfare School. 

As a General Officer, he has served as the Legislative Assistant to the 38th Commandant of the Marine Corps; the Deputy Director of Operations, U.S. European Command; the Deputy Commanding General, I Marine Expeditionary Force; and the Commanding General, 1st Marine Division. He assumed duties as the Deputy Commander, U.S. European Command in December 2024. 

Lt. Gen. Fulford is a graduate of the U.S. Army Infantry Officer’s Advance Course, the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, the School of Advanced Warfighting, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.

Lt. Gen. Fulford’s personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (3), Bronze Star with Combat Distinguishing Device, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon.
