BREMERHAVEN, Germany— The first combat power into the European theater for DEFENDER-Europe 20 has rolled down the ramp of the American Roll-on Roll-off Carrier The Endurance at the port of Bremerhaven in Germany, February 20. The equipment belongs to 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, deploying to Germany from Fort Stewart, Georgia. The arrival of the ARC Endurance signifies the next major step of DEFENDER-Europe 20, the largest deployment of Soldiers from the U.S. to Europe for an exercise in more than 25 years.

Saber Guardian 17 strengthens multinational force to create a Strong Europe

Saber Guardian is an annual, U.S. Army Europe-led, multinational exercise, which takes place during the month of July in numerous locations across Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania, and is co-hosted by the land force components in those countries. Saber Guardian is the largest in size and scope since its inception in 2013. Though it is not a NATO exercise, hosting nations are all NATO members.

Noble Partner 15 - CQB Team Training

U.S. and Georgian Soldiers participate in close quarters battle drills, May 13, during Exercise Noble Partner 15. The two partner nations worked in teams to clear rooms and practice tactics, learning how to communicate while working together. One of the training tools used included white tape to simulate mock room. A two-man team of a U.S. and Georgian soldiers practiced clearing the objective. The U.S. Soldiers participating in the exercise are assigned to Company A, 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, and Troop C, 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Abn. Bde. The Georgian soldiers are assigned to Company A, 12th Battalion, 1st Infantry Brigade. Noble Partner is a field training and live-fire exercise between the U.S. Army and the Georgian military to support Georgia's participation in the NATO Response Force and build military ties between the two nations. EUCOM provides update on the European Reassurance Initiative

U.S. European Command continues to support the defense and security of NATO allies and bolster the security and capacity of U.S. partners in Europe. The European Reassurance Initiative (ERI), part of the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act of 2015, signed by President Obama on December 19, 2014, included $985 million in ERI funds. These monies enable the Department of Defense to continue its efforts to reinforce America’s solemn commitment to the safety and territorial integrity of our allies and to strengthen the security and capacity of our partners in the region.

EUCOM announces USAF deployment in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve

"The United States Air Force deployed 12 A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft as part of a Theater Security Package in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve to Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. Approximately 300 Airmen and support equipment are deploying with the A-10s from the 355th Fighter Wing, Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz. While in Germany these aircraft will forward-deploy to locations in Eastern European NATO nations. Units will conduct training alongside our NATO allies to strengthen interoperability and to demonstrate U.S. commitment to the security and stability of Europe," said U.S. Navy CAPT Greg Hicks, U.S. European Command spokesman.

DoD Announces European Infrastructure Consolidation Actions and F-35 Basing in Europe

The Department of Defense announced today the consolidation of some U.S. infrastructure in Europe, including the return of 15 sites to their host nations. These actions, taken as part of the European Infrastructure Consolidation (EIC) process, will save the U.S. government approximately $500 million annually. The DoD also announced the first F-35 basing in Europe at RAF Lakenheath, UK, which will bring new opportunities for collaboration between the U.S. and UK air forces.
