Four U.S. Air Force B-52 strategic bombers return to Minot Air Force Base, N.D., concluding their overseas deployment with Global Guardian, a U.S. Northern Command-led exercise integrating with eight NATO Allies, June 20, 2024.
The mission was a long-planned bilateral, international training mission conducted under Bomber Task Force 24-3. The bombers integrated with Royal Air Force fighter aircraft and French Air Force aircraft in the Eastern Mediterranean before returning to RAF Fairford.
BTF 24-3 also falls under Large Scale Global Exercise 2024, an umbrella term used to connect military operations across multiple combatant commands. LSGE24 enables U.S. Joint Forces to train with Allies and partners and improve shared understanding, trust, and interoperability on security challenges across the globe.
During the month-long deployment, which kicked off March 24 the B-1Bs and supporting personnel conducted several missions to train alongside Allies and partners across the European region, including the Czech Republic, Greece, Türkiye, and the U.K.

During BTF 24-3, U.S. Airmen and aircraft integrated with NATO Allies and other international partners to synchronize capabilities and assure security commitments across the U.S. European Command area of responsibility. Most notably, the B-52s integrated with the British, Swedish, French, Lithuanian, Polish, German, and Spanish Air Forces.
