Honoring the sacrifices of nearly 70,000 fallen service members buried on European soil, U.S. European Command will commemorate Memorial Day at 21 cemeteries throughout Europe.

In support of the American Battle Monuments Commission, Headquarters USEUCOM, its components and bands will participate in Memorial Day ceremonies 27-29 May at all 21 ABMC WWI/WWII cemeteries in Europe, which are located in France, Italy, the UK, Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Overall, U.S. military participation will consist of color guards, troop formations, military chaplains, bands, buglers, general officer/flag officer speakers, firing details and flyovers at ABMC cemeteries.

This year marks the centennial of ABMC, which oversees 25 U.S. military cemeteries overseas as well as Arlington National Cemetery.

All Memorial Day ceremonies at ABMC cemeteries are free and open to the public. For additional information on ceremonies, go to the ABMC website.
