Unsafe, unprofessional intercept of US bomber by Russian aircraft over the Black Sea

At approximately 11:19 a.m. on Aug. 28, 2020, two Russian Su-27 Flanker pilots intercepted a U.S. Air Force B-52 bomber that was conducting routine operations in the black sea over international waters. The Russian pilots flew in an unsafe and unprofessional manner while crossing within 100 feet of the nose of the B-52 multiple times at co-altitude and while in afterburner causing turbulence and restricting the B-52’s ability to maneuver.
The B-52 Stratofortress aircraft was conducting routine operations in international airspace exercising our freedom of navigation and overflight. The U.S. Air Force routinely operates aircraft in the region in accordance with recognized international safety standards as prescribed in International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) rules of flight.

Approximately 2,800 military members from the nations of France, Georgia, Poland, the United Kingdom and the United States will participate in exercise Noble Partner Sept. 7-18, in Georgia.
A U.S. Army paratrooper assigned to 2nd Battalion, 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade fires at hatch gunners fighting from a BMP-2M tank during a battalion engagement Aug. 16, 2020 as part of Exercise Saber Junction 20. Exercises with Allies, Partners Strengthen USEUCOM’s Readiness

In an era of evolving challenges, both globally and across Europe, U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) and its components continue to train and bolster their readiness to execute any mission or respond to an emergency at a moment’s notice.
U.S. Marines with Marine Rotational Force-Europe 20.2, Marine Forces Europe and Africa, conduct Exercise Midnight Sun, a two-part battalion field exercise consisting of a battalion defense and a force-on-force between Lima and Kilo Company with supporting elements in Setermoen, Norway, July 27-August 10, 2020. MRF-E focuses on regional engagements throughout Europe by conducting various exercises, arctic cold-weather and mountain-warfare training, and military-to-military engagements, which enhance overall interoperability of the U.S. Marine Corps with allies and partners.
