U.S. Army Gen. Christopher Cavoli, commander, U.S. European Command, convened with U.S. component commanders for the European Component Commander’s Conference on the Naval Support Activity Naples, Italy, on Sept. 3, 2024.
The conference included commanders, deputy commanders and command senior enlisted leaders from U.S. Army Europe, U.S. Naval Forces Europe, U.S. Air Forces in Europe, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Europe, and U.S. Special Operations Command Europe. They used the venue to discuss how best to collectively achieve national and European security objectives, and further align U.S. military operations and exercises in support of Allies and partners.
“This conference is an important effort with Gen. Cavoli and my fellow component commanders to advance our collective efforts in integrating with NATO and deterring any potential adversary,” said U.S. Admiral Stuart Munsch, commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Naval Forces Africa. “The success of the U.S. Armed Forces within the European theater is possible because of the joint teamwork that takes place among our commands every day and especially during these conferences.”
Leadership further emphasized the importance of operational readiness across all domains to ensure strong partnerships and crisis response, while examining the threat to European security posed by Russia via the Russia Strategic Initiative, a U.S. Department of Defense organization providing relevant research on the Russian Armed Forces and Russian geopolitics.
