U.S. European Command Deputy Commander Lt. Gen. Steven Basham and USEUCOM Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Adrian Spain hosted Deputy Chief of Defense of the Czech Republic Armed Forces Maj. Gen. Ivo Střecha in Stuttgart on March 22, to discuss strengthening the bilateral relationship between the U.S. and the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic delegation consisted of national civilian and military leaders. During the exchange, the delegation received informational briefs from USEUCOM directors on intelligence, theater operations, plans for deterrence and defense in Europe, and training and exercise opportunities.

“The Czech Republic is an integral member of the Alliance,” said Brig. Gen. Edward Vaughan, the USEUCOM strategy, plans and capabilities deputy director. “Their work as the framework nation for a NATO battle group enables deterrence on the Eastern Flank. We look forward to conducting our next engagement when USEUCOM Plans and Policy Director Maj. Gen. Daniel Lasica heads to the Czech Republic this summer."
