U.S. European Command and NATO Supreme Allied Command Europe leaders met today for staff talks, further strengthening collaboration and synchronization for enhanced deterrence and security.

As part of the ongoing commitment between the U.S. and NATO, Commander, U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) and Supreme Allied Command Europe (SHAPE) U.S. Air Force Gen Tod D. Wolters hosted the staff talks. To maintain force health protective measures, the staffs met virtually for the one-day event.

Initiated in 2018 to strengthen transparency and understanding for improved warfighting readiness between the two organizations, Wolters emphasized the benefits of holding the meetings that allow for greater prudent planning to collectively enhance the ability to generate peace.

Subject matter experts from both staffs addressed improved coordination, stressing the importance of shared activities to build resilience and speed for enhanced deterrence and defense. Further discussions focused on logistics and infrastructure, as well as improved strategic planning for during peace and crisis responses.

Leaders commented on the benefits of staying connected throughout NATO and U.S. planning activities offering the need to continue to aggressively improve collaboration.

Both staffs agreed that the staff talks have improved situational awareness across multiple operations, activities and investments that both are engaged in, and look forward to the continued partnership.
