Kyiv, Ukraine -- Commander, U.S. European Command Gen. Tod D. Wolters, met with Ukrainian Minister of Defense Andriy Zahorodnyuk and Ukrainian Chief of Defense Col. Gen. Ruslan Khomchak today to discuss the U.S.-Ukraine bilateral strategic partnership.

The U.S. and Ukrainian officials discussed cooperative efforts in the Black Sea region and joint exercises and training initiatives to include the Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine mission, which trains and equips the Ukrainian Armed Forces. U.S. advisory efforts support Ukrainian defense reforms that bring Ukraine closer to Europe and improve interoperability with NATO.

Wolters underscored U.S. support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, including Crimea, the Donbas region, and Ukrainian territorial waters. Wolters also noted the successful State Partnership Program with Ukraine, which was initiated in 1993 with the California National Guard and has fostered a collaborative relationship built on teamwork and trust.
